Terms

What you can expect from Yafdeck, and what it expects from you.

Last updated 12 September 2026

The short version

  • Yafdeck is free, and provided as it is, with no guarantee it will always work.
  • Your cards are yours. Export them whenever you like.
  • Do not use the service to break the law or to overwhelm it.
  • Either of us can end the arrangement at any time.

The sections below are the binding version. Where the summary and the detail differ, the detail governs.

Operator and service provider

Yafdeck is a software service operated by:

Smile Egbai, an individual based in Austria.
Contact: hello@yafdeck.com

The names Decklight Labs and Yafdeck may be used throughout this website, application, integrations, plugins and related services. Decklight Labs is a brand name used by the operator for software products and projects. It is not a separately incorporated company, partnership, GmbH, FlexCo, e.U. or other independent legal entity.

Accordingly, references in these Terms to Decklight Labs, Yafdeck, we, us or our mean the individual operator identified above.

Agreement with the operator

By accessing or using Yafdeck, including the website, web application, API, ChatGPT plugin or integration, or any other service provided under the Yafdeck or Decklight Labs names, you agree that these Terms form an agreement between you and the individual operator identified above.

Nothing in these Terms should be interpreted as representing Decklight Labs as a separately incorporated legal entity.

Your account

You need an account to use Yafdeck. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@yafdeck.com if you think someone else has access to it.

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for consenting to online services, that age applies instead.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use the service to break the law, or to infringe anyone else's rights;
  • attempt to access another learner's account, cards or review history;
  • automate the service in a way that degrades it for others, or attempt to extract the shared library in bulk;
  • submit content that is unlawful, abusive, or that contains other people's personal information;
  • probe, scan or test the security of the service without asking us first.

Security research is welcome if you tell us before you start. Write to hello@yafdeck.com.

Your content

The cards you own, the edits you make and your review history belong to you. We claim no ownership of them and will not publish them.

To run the service we need permission to store and process that content so we can schedule your reviews, show you your cards, and hand them back when you export. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Content you write yourself is never added to the shared library or shown to other learners. Content generated on your behalf by an AI assistant may be, so that other learners looking up the same word get it instantly. That content carries no connection to you.

The shared library

Yafdeck maintains a shared library of words, meanings, example sentences and phrases. It is provided for use inside the service. You may export the cards you own, including the content they resolve to. You may not extract the library in bulk or redistribute it as a dataset.

Connected assistants

You may connect a third-party assistant so it can save words into your decks. Those assistants are operated by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. You choose what to connect, and you can disconnect it at any time in Settings.

Availability and change

Yafdeck is free, and offered as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that it will be free of errors, or that content generated for a card is linguistically perfect. It is a study aid, not an authority. Check anything that matters.

We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we are going to discontinue the service or remove something you depend on, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your cards.

Limits and quotas

Free accounts have limits on how many languages and cards they can hold, and on how much content can be generated for them each day. These limits are shown in the app and may change. When a deck is full, Yafdeck either stops adding cards or archives ones you have clearly learned. That is your choice, and it never deletes them.

Ending it

You can stop using Yafdeck and delete your account at any time. Export your cards first if you want to keep them.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. We will tell you why and give you a chance to export first, unless that is impractical, for instance where an account is being used to attack the service.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for loss arising from your reliance on generated content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us, which for a free service is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Austria. If you are a consumer, you may also rely on the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in, and bring proceedings there.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Yafdeck after that means you accept the updated terms.
